The Mission:

As a published author, founder Madi Franquiz, makes regular appearances in schools and libraries all across the country for career days or to host her writers conference. At one particular event, she was in a North Dallas community spending the afternoon with an entire elementary school. Upon the entry of the 3rd grade class, she was approached by one of the teachers. She asked “could you dumb your presentation down for this class?” “Of course” she said, but she was curious. She needed to know more! She told the teacher that she had been strategic in my creation of these programs and made certain that they were age appropriate, at a level that each grade could understand. She lowered her voice and said “Madi, these kids are reading at or below the kindergarten level.” That’s when Madi realized we have a literacy problem that has been exacerbated by the global pandemic, and something had to be done. Madi began looking for opportunities to make a difference for kids through literacy.

After reaching out to several of her contacts, one of my dear friends from the United Nations asked if she had considered applying for an ambassadorship with the World Literacy Foundation. Madi knew she had little chance of getting the ambassadorship. She just was a small author from McKinney, Texas. The odds of being selected for the program were astronomical; but she prayed, and gave it to the Lord. Madi did not know why she had this desire but she knew the Lord would place her where she was supposed to be. And He did! Madi was selected from over 900 applicants from around the world as a World Literacy Ambassador. Together with the World Literacy Foundation, Madi is on a mission to ensure that every child regardless of geographic location has the opportunity to acquire literacy skills and books to reach their full potential.

Authoring Life currently aids children from 17 different countries, and 13 U.S. States, and has received endorsement from it's work in literacy advocacy by the United Nations and the World Literacy Foundation.
